Statement

"I work with traditional media and classical methods, moving to create paintings that will induce a re-appreciation of traditional realism as they align to traditional, realistic images that touch upon timeless and universal themes.

Rural subject matter often finds a place in my paintings as time and again my inspiration comes from my happiest childhood memories of days spent on my grandparents’ farm. I sensitize myself to subject matter that I’m passionate about. Exploiting a limited palette and pushing to depict textures are among my favorite criterion for telling stories of things old. Recently I have been inspired by simply stepping out the door and into our backyard gardens. It seems everything that grows in, or visits our vegetable and flower gardens motivates a creative compliance. This current inspiration has brought a change to my palette while motivating growth and insight emerges along the way"
